Stephanie is landscape designer and Jed is an intern architect currently based in Toronto. Together we have 8 years of experience working on projects from small to large.
We met at Dalhousie University in Halifax in 2007, where we both studied environmental design in the Faculty of Architecture. We went on to take our Masters of Architecture degrees in Copenhagen, Denmark.
After graduating in 2011, we moved to Berlin where we lived and worked for 1.5 years. Stephanie worked with Sinai Landscape Architecture & Urban Design and Jed worked with Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos. Our time in Berlin allowed us to gain experience on projects at every scale, from furniture design to urban master-planning.
Since 2013 we have been living in Toronto where Jed works for MJMA, a mid-sized architecture firm that works on recreational, fitness, sports, and community facilities all over Canada. Stephanie works for Public Work, a landscape and urban design office that specializes in public parks, gardens, civic spaces and streetscape design.
Outside of our jobs, we pursue projects that have special meaning to us, projects that give us a chance to work closely with communities to create new spaces that have a positive impact. This is what Future Landscapes is about.
We love to work on projects that create positive environmental and social connections, not just for private clients, but for everyone in the public realm. We are passionate about exploring ways in which design can be used to foster a sense of appreciation and connection between people and nature.
We strive to work collaboratively with the communities involved to ensure that people feel a sense of ownership and pride over their public spaces. We think that local, resilient, context-sensitive design that involves consultation with the community leads to the best projects.
